BEVERLY HILLS, CA, July 03, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The recent FDA approval of the Natrelle 410 Highly Cohesive form-stable silicone gel implants from Allergan has opened up more options for women considering Mommy Makeovers. Dr. David N. Sayah (http://www.davidsayah.com), a board-certified plastic surgeon who offers the new implants at his Beverly Hills cosmetic surgery practice, feels that the new implants offer women a greater level of customization for their surgery.
The form-stable implants, approved earlier this year for use in the United States after over 20 years of favorable results throughout Europe and Canada, are filled with a firmer silicone gel than round implants for a texture that more closely mimics natural breast tissue. The texture of the form-stable implants has given them the popular nickname of "gummy bear" implants. Gummy bear implants are anatomically shaped with a gradual slope that's more similar to a woman's organic breast shape.
"Women's breasts are naturally fuller at the bottom and taper at the top. Round implants give fullness throughout the breast, including in the upper pole," explains Dr. Sayah, a Beverly Hills breast augmentation specialist. "This creates a more dramatic effect that may not be right for every woman."
Round implants were previously the dominant choice for breast augmentation, although a variety of different implant profiles does allow women to customize their results. For example, a high profile round implant will have a greater forward projection than a moderate profile round implant. High profile implants are used mostly for younger women or those who want more dramatic looking results, while moderate and moderate plus profile implants look more natural on older women. Some patients prefer the anatomical implants specifically because they remove the guesswork out of choosing the right profile for a patient's body type since they're already shaped to deliver natural looking results.
Breast augmentation is one of the primary procedures featured as part of a Mommy Makeover. This combination of surgical procedures typically may also include minimally invasive treatments that work together to help women minimize the changes in their bodies most commonly experienced after their childbearing years. Breast enhancement during a Mommy Makeover often includes a breast lift as well as implants.
"Implants only add volume," says Dr. Sayah. "They cannot change the position of the breast if their figure fallen a little after having kids. A breast lift elevates and reshapes, and including implants adds an extra touch."
Other procedures that are commonly considered during a Mommy Makeover include a tummy tuck, a thigh and body lift, and liposuction. A tummy tuck surgically retightens lax abdominal muscles and removes excess skin and fat from the area for a sleeker, slimmer appearance, while a thigh and body lift accomplishes the same results through the lower body and flank area. Liposuction removes isolated fatty deposits that remain for final fine-tuning and body sculpting.
Additional procedures often included are laser skin resurfacing or BOTOX Cosmetic to remove wrinkles and even out facial skin tone. Chemical peels, microdermabrasion and other med spa cosmetic procedures can also help moms look younger and more refreshed. Each Mommy Makeover is customized to the specific needs of the patient, so not every woman will receive the same procedures.
