Chester Firm Tipped for Top Title Following Secret Staff Survey

The Chester Business Park company was among those surveyed recently for the prestigious "Best Companies to Work For" accreditation.

The organisers of the survey also provide information for the Sunday Times' annual "Best Companies" report on workplaces where staff feel most valued and supported in their work.

In order to assess The Funding Corporation, a confidential questionnaire was sent to all its near-200 employees, asking their opinions on a range of issues concerning the company and its management.

Questions posed included how staff felt about being encouraged to achieve their personal ambitions, communication within the firm, their engagement with their job, and their pay and benefits.

The survey also looked at the extent to which staff felt their company had a beneficial impact on society, and how well it helped them achieve a work-life balance.

The positive views recorded enabled the Funding Corporation to gain a place in the "Ones To Watch" category of UK firms judged as prime candidates for Best Companies accreditation.

A special plaque to record the motor finance company's achievement was presented this month to its Managing Director David Challinor.

However, said Mr Challinor, the whole management team deserved to share credit for the honour:

"Our aim has always been to create a working environment where people feel genuinely valued, and where staff are helped and encouraged to achieve their own personal goals," he said.

"We do this in part by providing training opportunities and mentoring to employees at all levels, paving the way for their progression within the organisation.

"However, we don't believe that working life should be entirely one-dimensional, which is why we also foster links with local and national charities with which staff can engage.

"Playing a part in improving the lives of others can help create a mutually supportive workplace culture which benefits everyone," added Mr Challinor.
