National Pawn Awards $6,000 in Scholarships

    RALEIGH, NC, July 08, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- National Pawn has awarded $6,000 in scholarships to high school seniors in Durham, Orange and Wake Counties for the 2013-2014 school year. Bob Moulton, President of National Pawn, has offered scholarships to Triangle students for several years. This year the program was expanded to provide Hispanic students scholarships under the Nuestra Juventud program.

This year's winners include: Edmi Cornejo, C.E. Jordan High School, and Keny Murillo, Durham Tech, from Durham County; Rebekka Evans and Ashleigh Robb, Garner Magnet High School, from the Wake County Public School System; Heather Newton and Abigail Lutz, Cedar Ridge High School; along with Vivian Feldman, Nicholas Peckman, Katherine Kirkman, Kaitlyn Micol, and Kristen Nida, Orange High School, from Orange County Public Schools.

"As a graduate of the Triangle public school system myself," said Moulton. "I know how hard these kids work, and what a struggle it can be for them to continue their education."

Moulton is known in the community for his work on behalf of public schools and has received awards from Durham and Orange Counties. Along with the scholarship program, National Pawn also sponsors an essay contest for elementary school students. In 2011, Moulton began donating new and gently used instruments to local middle-school students.

In addition, National Pawn won the 2011 Torch Award from the Eastern NC Better Business Bureau for business integrity and community involvement, and two 2012 Summit Business Awards from the Garner Chamber of Commerce.
