Resurgence of Self-Sufficiency

Due to these factors, people that are looking for a better way of life are saying goodbye to the hustle and bustle of the bigger cities, their 4000 square foot homes on 1/16th of an acre and trading in their BMW's for a tractor.

They wake in the early mornings to feed their animals, do a head count to make sure everyone is there, harvest what their animals have provided, head back in to shower and a put on their suit before commuting to their 9 to 5 jobs. After a long days work they head back to their homestead and put on their jeans or overalls and head out to the garden to harvest what they have grown for the nights dinner; they tend to their chores by making sure their animals are tucked in and have everything that they need for the night, before finally heading inside to cook a wholesome, home grown and healthy meal.

Their weekends are spent, neither at the golf course, nor the local beach but out side on their homestead, weeding, planting, harvesting, tending to every single aspect of their lives, making sure that what they grow or tend is in tune with the cycle of Mother Nature.

This is the life of Modern Homesteaders; they abide by the laws of nature by taking what it provides and replacing what was taken in a continuous and harmonious existence. Their lives are by no means easy, but knowing exactly where your food is coming from, what is in it, and knowledge that they will always have healthy food on their tables, and will always be able to provide is in itself its own rewards, it's own freedom.

So many people have said that America is the land of opportunity, the land of the American dream and they were right, not because of the over abundance, the broken social programs that give and give, and certainly not because our streets were ever paved in gold, but because the resurgence of self-sufficiency. The ability to control your own life, and the direction that you choose it to go; not having to worry about the rising prices of food at the local super food chain, not having to worry what chemical is being put into what food or what was fed to the animals prior to you buying it at the meat market; but the total freedom of not being dependent on anyone else but yourselves and what you can grow or harvest, you are the master of your own destiny.

People no longer want their food to be laced with commercial pesticides, or their poultry to be dipped in bleach or their beef to be full of steroids, no they are seeking out other like-minded people to grow and learn, trade and barter, choosing locally organically grown or free range foods over their commercial counterparts.

They are removing their dependence on others and joining the resurgence of Self-Sufficiency to live healthy, to live free to finally live the American Dream.
