Debra Lorraine Yearwood Inducted into Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Communications

    OTTAWA, ONTARIO, CANADA, July 23, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Debra Lorraine Yearwood, Senior Director of Communications and Relations for VON Canada, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in communications.

Ms. Yearwood began her career as a political assistant with Parliament Hill before moving on to serve as Vice President of SAMCI, a government relations firm. While at SAMCI, she was awarded the Top Forty Under 40 by the Ottowa Business Journal. Debra then moved on from SAMCI to become the Senior Director of External Relations for the Canadian Pharmacists Association. Backed by her impressive resume, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Carleton University, Ms. Yearwood currently serves as the Senior Director of Communications and Relations for VON Canada, a nonprofit, charitable home and community care organization that provides health care services, including personal services, corporate health and wellness, special projects and travel vaccines.

Ms. Yearwood has been directing and managing national communications functions, including government relations, media, stakeholder strategies and related products, as VON Canada's senior director of communications and relations for five years. She also oversees internal communications strategies for the company's 5,000 staff members and 9,000 volunteers, handles issues and launches change management activities. In 2012, she won the VON Bronze Award of Excellence for Innovation - Individual, and the VON Gold Award of Excellence - Team, two achievements that have only further legitimized her abilities and talents in her field.

With 20 years of experience in administrative affairs, communications and community care, Ms. Yearwood has acquired expertise in internal, corporate and government relations.
