Mahala A. Stansfield Inducted into Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Legal Nursing Consulting

    WESTMINSTER, MD, July 24, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mahala A. Stansfield, RN, MSN, CLNC, President of Catalyst Nurse Legal Consulting & Associates LLC, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in legal nursing consulting and in nursing.

Ms. Stansfield has been a nurse for 33 years, providing clinical care and patient and student education in various areas of health care. She has worked in labor and delivery, critical care, and long-term care units, in management, administration, and education, and the emergency room. She has taught nursing in an award-winning high school vo-tech center and in a large, local, community college. She has designed nursing curriculums at the local and state levels.

She started her legal consulting business in August of 2011 and is continuing to expand in her field. Ms. Stansfield has been published in The Medical Legal News e-zine. She is currently working on her first book about her career as a nurse and a consultant. She will be speaking locally and nationally at law schools and symposiums to educate others about the field of legal nurse consulting. Her specialties include personal injury, medical malpractice, and wrongful death litigation, working for either plaintiff or defense. Ms. Stansfield attributes her success to her passion for nursing and law, to her driven personality, to her professionalism and her manners, and to her empathy and her compassion for others. Ms. Stansfield knew that she wanted to become a nurse when she was in grade school, while she cared for her chronically-ill mother. She became interested in law when she noticed, as a nurse, a surge in medically-related lawsuits; she wanted to indirectly help lower the cost of health care by helping to dismiss unsubstantiated cases and by helping to pursue cases with merit.

Ms. Stansfield received a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland. She is pursuing certification in Emergency Room Nursing and had received her certification in inpatient obstetrics. She is currently certified in legal nurse consulting (CLNC, ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP), and Basic Life Support (BLS).

Ms. Stansfield is a member of the University of Maryland Alumni Association, the American Nurses Association, the Maryland Nurses Association, the Emergency Nurses Association, the National Alliance of Legal Nurse Consultants, and the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN).

Ms. Stansfield has received a Best Instructor Plaque from Genesis Healthcare in 2006, and she belongs to Who's Who among American High School Students, the National Honor Society and the National Art Honor Society. She supports her local fire department and St. John's Catholic Church, the church she attends. Her hobbies include art, beading/jewelry making, reading and freelance writing.
