OTTAWA, ONTARIO, CANADA, July 25, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michael Washer, Owner and Principal Consultant for M3 Project Support Service and Vice President of Program Management for Energy Efficient Systems Africa, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in Energy Solutions. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.
Mr. Washer has 40 years of professional experience, with more than 25 years in international project management. M3 Project Support Service is an Ottawa-based project management firm that provides bilingual English/Russian project support and documentation. Mr. Washer handles the M3's daily operations, marketing and business development. Additionally Mr. Washer has launched a separate software company Ajeeva Inc. (www.ajeeva.com) to provide MicroSoft SharePoint solutions for project management and business governance.
In addition to his leadership role with M3 Project Support and Ajeeva Inc., Mr. Washer serves as vice president of program management for Energy Efficient Systems Africa, a company founded by his son in Kenya. In this capacity, he represents the company in Canada and works to provide African companies and communities with affordable, reliable electrical power using sensible, environmentally responsible technical solutions.
Mr. Washer completed a full career in the British Royal Navy during the later part of the Cold War as a nuclear submarine officer. He served proudly as a high-caliber, enthusiastic and seasoned international program manager with demonstrated success across information technology, construction and government sectors. Mr. Washer takes pride in getting things done through team motivation and selfless hard work. Throughout his 22 years of project leadership experience, he has managed budgets in excess of $100 million while gaining a rich mix of business and leadership experience with significant Canadian public sector experience. In addition to his project management skills, Mr. Washer maintains a full complement of modern IT skills, which he acquired through formal continuation training. He has been recognized internationally for his project management leadership and risk management skills in successfully planning and leading a range of high-value complex projects in Russia.
After serving as a British nuclear submarine officer, Mr. Washer became a Canadian diplomat and worked with the Foreign Affairs Department. In particular, he assisted Russia in decommissioning 18 nuclear submarines. For his achievements in this and many other multimillion-dollar government projects, he was a nomination for the Queen's Jubilee Medal in 2012 and in 2013 received an award by the Russian State for his contribution to the improvement of nuclear safety in the Russian Federation. He has also been honored with a service merit award for excellence and distinguished service, presented by the Canada Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in 2003, as well as a Falklands Campaign Medal, with clasp, which he received in 1982.
Mr. Washer attributes his success to his hard work and entrepreneurial drive. A committed humanitarian, he oversaw the donation of dentistry and laundry equipment that was shipped from Canada to a large orphanage in northern Russia.
In 1988 Mr. Washer received an MBA from the University of Ottawa. He is certified as a project management professional (PMP) and as a PRINCE2 Registered Consultant. He maintains an affiliation with the Ottawa Chapter of the Project Management Institute. In addition, he is an elected member of the Nautical Institute of London and a certified management consultant. To remain in contact with other professionals within his field, he became a member of the International Project Management Association, The Invest Ottawa Network, the Ottawa Telfer School of Management, Submarine Veterans, and the Courageous Society. In years to come, Mr. Washer hopes to sell his software company and to still manage his other companies.
