ROGERS, AR, July 29, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Judy Madewell, Director of Operations and Realty for Wal-Mart Stores Inc., has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in business operations management.
Ms. Madewell has 26 years of experience in business operations management. She became involved in her profession while she was in college, when she worked as a cashier for Wal-Mart. She loved its diverse culture. Her roommate, who also worked for Walmart mentioned that she was going to get involved in the store planning sector of the company and that intrigued her. She took the management courses, became an assistant manager and then also went in to store planning where eventually she became a field manager, and was responsible for overseeing all aspects of new store set-up activities, expansions and relocations affecting the parts of the Northeast of the U.S. After gaining many years of experience and knowledge, she moved to the home office and served as a director of store planning for the western part of the U.S. Today she serves as director of operations and store planning. Ms. Madewell attributes her success to her parents and the great mentors and leaders she has had in her life that helped and pushed her to succeed.
Ms. Madewell provides exemplary leadership as director of operations for store planning at Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. She works with the entire store planning and/or renovation process, to create procedures and timelines and process improvement. With advanced skills in team collaboration, she serves as a leader in her field, and she also has a systems procuring teams that report to her for all major and minor projects. She also provides management, innovation and partnership with other areas of the company.
In addition, Ms. Madewell is responsible for overseeing the budgeting and financials for store planning as far as capital expenditures. She works as a liaison from the field teams to the home office support groups and supports more than 1,600 associates. An effective communicator, Ms. Madewell manages the writing of policies and procedures that impact the field teams. She also ensures associates understand these procedures and makes sure they get the appropriate training for new programs. She aspires to be a role model to other women in her industry, to show them that they too can move up and be a great leader if they stick to it.
Ms. Madewell received a Bachelor of Science in sports management from Faulkner University. She is a member of the Institute for Global Leadership and the Women's Executive Network.
