OREM, UT, August 06, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Seventy-nine percent of providers using clinical decision support surveillance software report that utilizing the technology has a moderate to significant impact on clinical outcomes. This and other findings are being released in a new report entitled CDS Surveillance 2013: Impacting Outcomes.
The study represents the voice of 140 providers currently using surveillance-specific products or surveillance functionality within their EMR, each answering the following questions: How big of an impact is surveillance having today? How capable are these systems out of the box? How easy are they to customize?
"Providers make it clear that they feel that CDS surveillance is having a positive impact on how well they are able to care for their patients," said Adam Cherrington, research director and report author from KLAS. "This report doesn't just answer the question of whether CDS surveillance is having an impact on clinical outcomes; it also reveals which vendors are the best positioned and most effective at helping providers."
As part of the report, KLAS broke down the surveillance vendors into the categories of pharmacy-focused surveillance, enterprise-wide surveillance and EMR surveillance. The vendors reviewed include Allscripts, Caradigm, CareFusion, Cerner, Epic, Hospira, PeraHealth, Siemens, Truven Health Analytics and Wolters Kluwer. Various labor and delivery vendors were also mentioned in the study.
