Travel Advantage Network Works to Rise Above Homelessness

    MILLERSVILLE, MD, August 08, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Travel Advantage Network, a vacation accommodations program, has dedicated its charitable fundraising efforts for the month of July to the Emmaus Center. The Emmaus Center is also known as "a home away from homelessness" and provides a community for those living on the streets with provisions such as canned foods, meals, clothing, and counseling for mental and substance abuse issues.

Each month, a Travel Advantage Network employee selects a charity for the company to support and plans activities and events for employees to participate in to help raise funds for that cause. Steve Ogden, Vacation Services Team Leader, choose Emmaus because he feels strongly about helping those that are less fortunate.

To raise funds, employees participated in a 50/50 drawing and multiple pay- to-wear jeans days. Ogden also collected several bins of non-perishable foods and paper products to be donated to the Emmaus Center. These charitable efforts will provide supplies to those in need, as well as assist the Emmaus Center with funds for utility bills.

"This is a charity that has a direct and immediate impact on changing the lives of homeless people in Maryland. Most recently, the Emmaus Center placed a family of four who was living in a car into an apartment," explained Ogden, Vacation Services Team Leader.
