Experts in Foundation Repair in Tampa, Ram Jack, Note Dangers of Residing on Possible Fracture Line

The Florida foundation and sinkhole repair experts, Ram Jack, discuss the concerns that people in the Tampa area have about a fracture line that may be the cause of the sinkholes that have impacted the area this year.

NORCROSS, GA, August 12, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Following the sinkhole that killed a man this February in Seffner, Florida, some geologists have expressed concern that the Tampa suburb could be on a fracture line that connects to around twenty other sinkholes. Tampa sinkhole repair company, Ram Jack, notes that concerns have grown as more sinkholes have been reported in Hillsborough County, where Tampa is located.

A String of Sinkholes
Sinkholes in Tampa, Florida have become an increasing concern in recent months. In June of this year, a restaurant in Seffner was closed after employees discovered cracks on the ceiling, floor and walls, which can be signs of a sinkhole or foundation instability. A Tampa family had to evacuate their home when a sinkhole developed in their front yard. Also, what was believed to be a sinkhole opened under 138th Avenue at Bruce B Downs Boulevard.

The seeming string of sinkholes in Tampa and the media coverage around them have understandably made Central Florida residents nervous. Geologists say that the recent weather is likely in part to blame. Heavy rains after a drought and Tropical Storm Andrea could be causing the spate of sinkholes. It is even known as "sinkhole weather."

The Causes of Sinkholes
Sinkholes form when rocks, such as the limestone underneath Florida, begin to dissolve as they are exposed to acidic water. They can also be caused by things like low water levels, broken sewers and septic tanks.

Fracture lines, particularly those that are intersecting and parallel, are at high risk for sinkholes. Geologists disagree about whether a few collapsed sinkholes increase the likelihood of others along the same fracture. However, they acknowledge that when a fracture occurs, it can be exposed to the groundwater that dissolves it.

Johnny Buczynski, President of All Florida Ram Jack, a leader in foundation and sinkhole repair in Tampa, Florida, says, "If you see cracks or other evidence that the foundation under your home or business is unstable, you should call a professional foundation contractor immediately. They can assess the damage and repair it if necessary before it becomes a danger."
