BARDEN RIDGE, NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA, August 12, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dorothy Gudz, Building Services Manager of DMG Consulting, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in consulting.
Ms. Gudz has 30 years of professional experience, with 10 years as a building services manager, currently of DMG Consulting. As an expert in design management and mechanical engineering, she is responsible for the procurement and design phases of projects. To complete these phases, she regularly reviews incoming documentation for compliance with briefs and compliance with current regulations. She also works with estimating teams and manages consulting and D&C contracting building services teams.
Ms. Gudz was born in Wroclaw, but she later relocated following her father's career placement to Warsaw, where she finished her education. Even in primary school, she had a a keen interest in science and mathematics, which resulted in her later high school placement in a selective class with a focus on mathematics and science development and a concentration in physics. Later, in university, the subject of her thesis was a design for an air conditioning system that would service the control center of an electric power station located in Polaniec, Poland. The project design was reviewed by engineering consultancy in Warsaw and eventually was recommended for construction with completion a year later.
In the seven years following the completion of her thesis, Ms. Gudz progressed her career, starting from her first appointment as a site engineer, where she managed a crew of 12. From there, she moved on to supervisory role of services manager working on number of jobs of varied size for Investment division of Electropower Station Siekierki. This was a part-time appointment following the birth of her daughter. Following her participation over the years in varied infrastructure and internal services site supervision, she was able to apply for a license to hold independent supervisory positions in Poland.
At the end of 1991, Ms. Gudz left Poland with her family and relocated to and arrived to Australia. Starting with a bridging English course for professionals at Macquarie University, she managed to gain work experience with Environ Mechanical Services. In late 2004, Ms. Gudz was offered an opportunity to manage the services design development and delivery for a hotel-to-apartment complex conversion project at the top of William Street, Kings Cross. This role led to St. Hilliers offering her a permanent position of services manager. With St. Hilliers growing as a company, she had opportunities to manage building services on various design and constructions progressing to projects in St. Hilliers' interstate offices. Ms. Gudz's experience includes now the procurement and design of large shopping centers, prominent residential and mixed use developments, correctional services buildings as well as defense warehousing.
Ms. Gudz attributes her success to her determination, persistence and passion for engineering and design. She became involved in her profession because her father, Marian Sorbian, who was originally an electrical engineer himself, showed her that through passion in what one does, one can achieve the pinnacle of their profession. Nearly every project is different and offers its own challenges. Ms. Gudz had several opportunities to be part of fantastic management and design teams. She feels that the phase when project concept is forming into a design in participation of all involved professionals is a highlight on every new project.
Ms. Gudz received a master's degree in building services and mechanical services engineering from Politechnika Warszawska in 1983. She is a member of AIRAH and the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers. In 1992, she was recognized for her outstanding performance by Women in Engineering. To support others, she contributes to the Kidney Research Institute and the National Heart Foundation of Australia. When she is not at work, she enjoys traveling, gardening, boating and sailing, and spending time with her family and friends. In years to come, Ms. Gudz intends to participate in large-scale projects.
