Thirty-eight years of experience in finance has enabled Ms. Carter to develop an expertise in a wide variety of areas including finance, risk management, compliance, alternative investments, insurance, human resourses, information technology, and tax. In her present position, she oversees Corporate Accounting, risk management and compliance, tax, information technology and accounting for various alternative investment products and private foundations. Ms. Carter also serves on the Board of The CFO Alliance. She states that the role of the CFO is ever evolving and that she needs to be adaptable and constantly learning new things. She attributes her success to her hard work, her dedication and her genuine love for what she does.
She became involved in her profession because of her father's influence; he was a CPA and an attorney, who encouraged her to study accounting. During her college career, she initially took mathematics and chemistry courses, but then switched to accounting. Her accounting professor offered her an internship and the rest is history.
When she retires, Ms. Carter hopes to continue on the same professional path. She would eventually like to work with small businesses and start-up companies and spend more time with her family.
