Premier Wealth Management Turns Identity Protection Into A Party

    SAN DIEGO, CA, August 18, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Premier Wealth Management, a comprehensive financial planning and wealth management firm, is hosting a document shredding event on Saturday, August 24. The event, which is open to the general public, is designed to give attendees a safe, free and convenient way to destroy personal and business documents, including: tax documentation, bank statements, monthly investment statements, pay stubs, cancelled checks, receipts, CDs/DVDs, etc.

According to PROSHRED, the mobile document destruction company who will be onsite at the event, statistics from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) state that identity theft is the fastest growing non-violent crime in the United States. In contrast to popular belief, statistical studies suggest that almost 75 percent of information theft occurs through the traditional paper stream rather than by electronic means.

"Activities such as dumpster-diving remain the most common methods of personal identity theft and corporate espionage," said Josh Koehnen, president of Premier Wealth Management. Koehnen hired PROSHRED to bring one of its mobile shredding trucks to his office parking lot in Mission Valley. There is a large industrial paper shredder built directly into the back of the truck, which makes it easy to get rid of sensitive documents. Koehnen initially planned to host the event for his firm's clients, but decided to open it up to the local community for no charge as well.

"I wanted to create a fun and family-friendly event where my clients could quickly stop by to destroy their personal documents, but the more I thought about the security and environmental benefits, I figured I should make it available to other members of the community as well," said Koehnen.
