Cynthia Cartier Inducted into Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in the Law

    GUILFORD, CONNECTICUT, August 26, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Attorney Cynthia DeMatteis Cartier, Partner of Cartier & Bower, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in the law.

Ms. Cartier has 21 years of experience in the industry. Her areas of expertise are family and elder law, including Medicaid/Medicare matters and estate planning. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Upsala College, her JD from Widener Law School, and an LLM from UCONN Law School, where she also received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Insurance Finance.

A seasoned professional, Ms. Cartier attributes her success to her hard work, tenacity and passion. She began her career clerking in the seventh Judicial Circuit in Maryland and then went into private practice concentrating on family law and civil litigation. She returned to Connecticut in 1997 working for Sentry, St. Paul and then Fireman's Fund Insurance Companies as a trial/senior trial counsel concentrating on insurance defense litigation and workers' compensation. In 2005, she joined Nationwide as an assistant general counsel where, as a member of the senior leadership team, she performed legal and compliance functions for national and program accounts throughout the New England region.

She is admitted to the bars of the State of Connecticut and US District Court for the District of Connecticut. She is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association and has been involved in various community activities throughout her career including currently serving on the Board of Selectmen in Guilford since 2007, Boards of the American School for the Deaf & Sarah, Inc., Guilford Rotary and the National Association of Professional Women. She has previously served on the Guilford Boards of Education and Planning and Zoning, the Women and Family Life Center, the Catholic Charity League and the Hamden Legislative Council. Since 2001, she has been appointed as a fact-finder/arbitrator for the Judicial Districts of New Haven and Meriden.
