Leslie Harris Cosgrove Inducted into Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Project Management

    PHILADELPHIA, PA, August 30, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Leslie Harris Cosgrove, Consultant/Owner of AMARANT since 1985, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in project management.

Ms. Cosgrove has thirty years of international experience working in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, North America and Eastern Europe as a development professional with expertise in communications and outreach, project management and implementation, proposal development and funding, and training.
As an organization development and change specialist, and gender-based violence expert on issues such as human trafficking, child soldiering, forced labor, child labor issues, and family and domestic violence, she has worked in conflict and postconflict countries implementing programs in family violence, gender equity, youth leadership and training of trainers.

Ms. Cosgrove's core competencies include managing processes in for-profit and non-profit/NGO and government entities; diagnosing organizations; and designing, implementing and monitoring interventions for greater organizational productivity. In 2000, she was asked to help implement a network of domestic violence projects in Armenia being funded by USAID under the direction of the United Nations. In 2012, she spent five months as a director of three programs in Afghanistan that are assisting in the transition process as Afghanistan implements its new government by supporting governance and citizen participation at local community levels.

Ms. Cosgrove has had successful domestic and international experience with legislative and business association initiatives in the fields of auto recycling, mental illness, domestic violence, solid waste, and water sanitation. She is an excellent trainer and train the trainer, with experience in democracy and governance and rule of law having also served as an elected municipal official. As a journalist, she covered the municipal news of her residential community in Maine, at the time.

As an organizational revenue raiser, she has developed and wrote project proposals around the globe, most notably for the West Bank/Gaza and Navajo Nation, and in Mongolia, Malawi, Philippines, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Ukraine, South Sudan, and Iraq.

She attributes her success to her hard work. She became involved in her expertise because she came out of the experiences herself, and started working in domestic violence and safe houses in the 1970s; and as a result, her involvement in gender based violence has evolved over her career. In the future, Ms. Cosgrove wants to play a major role in gender-based violence in conflict/post conflict countries and supporting conflict mediation and gender equity by working with youth leadership around the globe.

Ms. Cosgrove received a Master of Science in Community Economic Development from Southern New Hampshire University and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from St. John University in New York City. In addition, she has been certified in Conflict Management and Peacebuilding by the United States Institute of Peace.
