Jim A. Perkins Named a Worldwide Who's Who Entrepreneur of the Year for Excellence in Operations Management

    PHILADELPHIA, PA, September 6, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jim A. Perkins, President of ACME Markets, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Executive of the Year in Operations Management. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.

ACME is a grocery store chain that operates 112 regional supermarkets in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland. As president, Mr. Perkins manages the overall operations, sales and marketing of the supermarket chain. He also oversees long-term growth strategy, new stores and remodels.

Mr. Perkins has 31 years of experience in business management. He joined the ranks at ACME Markets in February 2013 as president. Jim's areas of expertise include sales, leadership, operations management, supply chain management and business planning. He is also familiar with mergers, Six Sigma, resource allocation and team development. Prior to joining ACME, Mr. Perkins worked as a regional manager for Ahold USA and VP of Operations and Merchandising for Albertsons.

Demonstrating solid business expertise, Mr. Perkins attributes his success to making good decisions, mentoring and coaching. He is also known for developing associates to help them reach their potential. He became involved in his profession at age 19 when he started out bagging groceries in Northern California. He quickly learned the business and worked his way up to his current position. He has worked coast to coast operating in California, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, Maryland, Virginia and now in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.

Mr. Perkins received an MBA from the University of Phoenix. Jim is instrumental in keeping Acme involved in the community including organizations such as Philabundance, Bring Hope Home, MDA, the American Cancer Society Making Strides and the Philadelphia Eagles Youth Partnership. He has also volunteered time with the Boy Scouts of America, has served as Vice Chairman on the Manna Food Bank and currently serves on the board on the Brent Celek Foundation. Whenever he is not working, Mr. Perkins spends time with his family, traveling, boating and fishing. In the years to come, he plans to play a key role in growing sales and market share through improved operations, new store growth, mergers and acquisition. He also looks forward to the possibility of becoming a chief executive officer.
