Ms. Petro has worked in the field of education all her life
NEW PORT RICHEY, FL, September 19, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Patricia Petro, MS, LMHC, Adjunct Professor of Social Sciences for St. Petersburg College and Mental Health Counselor in Private Practice, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in Counseling Services. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.
Ms. Petro has worked in the field of education all her life, from teaching dance classes during high school and college, to teaching elementary education, teaching and directing a small private Christian school, teaching academics to young tennis players from all around the world, and currently teaching as an adjunct professor of social sciences and mentoring new students at St. Petersburg College for the past 13 years. Ms. Petro is an SLS instructor of Career & Life Planning and has been instrumental in the development of the mentoring program at St. Petersburg College. She became involved in her profession because it has been her life's passion and what she feels she was meant to do.
Additionally, Ms. Petro is licensed in the state of Florida as a mental health counselor and has a part-time private practice in Trinity, FL specializing in working with children and adolescents, families, couples, stress reduction, mood disorders and career counseling. She belongs to the Suncoast Mental Health Counselors Association (SMHCA). She attributes her success to her hard work and being a caring people person.
Ms. Petro holds a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Nova Southeastern University (1993) and a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the State University of New York College at Cortland (1966). Outside of her professional career, she serves as a Guardian Ad Litem to represent the interests of infants, children or incompetent persons in legal actions, and enjoys playing tennis in her leisure time. In five years, Ms. Petro intends to scale back on teaching and running her private practice because she basically wants to retire and just supervise new interns. Her first book, "Doing Your best Under Stress," by Pat Petro, published in 2005, is available for purchase on Amazon.com.
