TAMPA, FL, September 26, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Tampa foundation repair company, Ram Jack, talks about the recent story in which a Florida lake completely disappeared in the span of a few hours. How is this possible? The Tampa sinkhole repair business says a massive sinkhole was to blame for the draining of the five acre lake in the neighborhood of Ocala. The property manager reportedly noticed something strange about the way the water looked, that the depth appeared much lower than usual. This is because, unbeknownst to anyone, the surface of the lake was quickly preparing to give way.
Sinkholes are Dangerous and Unpredictable
Once the process of soil erosion reached its breaking point, what followed was basically the formation of a massive crater, in effect causing all of the water in the lake to drain. From early afternoon to nightfall, the lake went from full to empty, and the only thing left behind now is mud.
According to Johhny Buczynski, Owner of Ram Jack, "These stories are a powerful reminder that Mother Nature can be very destructive. Thankfully, the sinkhole did not affect the nearby condos and townhomes, as that would have been a disaster."
This is the second reported instance of a property association's lake falling victim to a sinkhole. The first incident occurred over 15 years ago. The Florida foundation repair contractor notes little can be done to forestall the effects of naturally occurring sinkholes, but in areas where land development is high, precise ground mapping and soil testing is a must.
