SPRINGFIELD, MA, October 17, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- President and CEO, Jack Rothweiler of Longmeadow, MA-based, Fred Astaire Franchised Dance Studios, recently won the United States Dance Championships' (USDC) prestigious John Monte Award which is given in honor of an individual's contributions to the worldwide growth of the ballroom dance business. The award was presented to Rothweiler on September 7, 2013 by USDC CEO & President, Martin Chiang, and Executive Vice President, Wayne Eng, to recognize Rothweiler's influence and lasting legacy on the ballroom dancing industry.
For over 40 years, Rothweiler has worked for the Fred Astaire Dance Studios organization in various capacities before becoming President and CEO in 2002. In addition to his duties as President, he successfully oversees the largest region in the company's franchise system, serves as Vice President on the World Dance Council's (WDC) Board of Directors (since 2008), and is an active registrant of the NDCA (since 2003). Under Rothweiler's leadership, Fred Astaire Franchised Dance Studios has become one of the largest dance studio franchise operations in the Unites States and is expanding its reach internationally.
The award is named for John Monte, an innovator in the world of ballroom and social dance and whose accomplishments include forming the Fred Astaire Dance Studios Dance Board and serving as its National Dance Director, founding the American Ballroom Company and the United States Ballroom Championships, receiving England's coveted Carl Alan Awards for dance and theater arts, and serving two terms as President of National Dance Council of America's (NDCA).
