America's Deceit (WD Murray, paperback and Kindle) is an epic novel about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. It is a historical novel "based on the true account of our government's decades-long cover-up," says the author, John Gaetano, a former member of the Screen Actors Guild of America with a long career in film production, directing, acting, and screen-writing.

John Anthony Gaetano was an active member of the Screen Actors Guild of America from 1977 through 1988. A serious student of Alfred Hitchcock, Frank Capra, and Howard Hawks, Gaetano has appeared as an extra, bit-player, and supporting player in such motion pictures as Coming Home, The Goodbye Girl, Grease, Meteor, The Swarm, The Muppet Movie, All Night Long, The Competition, Annie, Flashdance, and Beverly Hills Cop II. Gaetano has appeared in Sidney Poitier's Stir Crazy and Richard Brooks' Wrong is Right. He appeared in more than 100 television shows as well as commercials. He was not only an actor, but also a stuntman, in Steven Spielberg's 1941. The young Spielberg at the time and Gaetano became friends and would meet at the studios for the next four years, but it was Frank Capra, Jr. who discovered Gaetano and became his partner for the years between 1983 and 1997. Gaetano formed his company Cap-Hitch-Hawk Prods. in 1980.

Gaetano initially came to Hollywood to work on Hitchcock's last work in progress, A Short Night in 1976. It was Stanley Kubrick who introduced Gaetano to the master of suspense, who became his first mentor for the next four years until his death. It was Dr. Jules Stein, head of Universal Studios, who suggested to Gaetano that he start writing his own scripts. Also in 1976, on the set of Mel Brooks' Silent Movie, Marty Feldman and Gaetano met. Feldman would soon become a mentor to Gaetano, and the two went on to be lifelong friends. It was Feldman who inspired Gaetano to write his first script, which evolved into the political thriller, Pawns. In 1977, while working on Coming Home, another friendship grew, this time between Gaetano and Hal Ashby, the director. It was Hal Ashby who mentored and convinced Gaetano to produce a 16mm demo film in Seattle, Washington. This thirty-minute film, based on Gaetano's script "Delusions," was made in 1982 in Seattle, Washington, with the assistance of the chief of the police and the terrorist task force captain, both convincing the young director to film this project in the bay area instead of Hollywood for only $3,800.00 dollars.

In the following two years, Gaetano wrote, produced, and directed another promotional film, Pawns. This script became one of the most controversial in Hollywood history. It also opened doors for him in the beginning of his career, but in the next fifteen years it would ruin his life. Gaetano's screenplays include these two, and four others, including a mini-series called "One Deadly Winter," all ready and set to go before the cameras.
