GT Radial Drift Competitor Tyler Wolfson Wins WDRIFT California Event and Season Championship

    RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA, October 26, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Drifting competitor Tyler Wolfson scored a double victory in his GT Radial Mazda RX-7 on Oct. 19, finishing first in the final event of the Hot Import Nights/WDRIFT Series at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA, and, in doing so, captured the season championship.

With HIN/WDRIFT sharing the race weekend with the IZOD INDYCAR Series, Wolfson had the opportunity to showcase his drifting prowess before an enthusiastic audience of racing and custom car fans.

After qualifying in 5th place, Wolfson and his crew worked hard to get his GT Radial ultra-high performance tires and Mazda RX-7 dialed in perfectly.

The Fontana event was also a great showcase for the durability of GT Radial tires. Team Wolfson did not need to replace the tires at any point throughout the competition. "I was amazed that we were able to fight our way through every battle of the event and go on to take the win on a single set of tires," Wolfson said. "The GT Radial tires seemed to last forever even though I was doing everything I could to burn them off the car!"

After making it through the top 16, top 8 and top 4 rounds, Wolfson displayed excellent drifting techniques in a final battle that saw the two cars making contact with each other and the tire walls. Wolfson was awarded first place by the judges, a win that helped him capture the overall championship in his first season of competing in the HIN/WDRIFT Series.

"It was a thrilling weekend of racing, and our GT Radial tires played a huge role for us," Wolfson said. "The tires simply made everything easier, including chasing down cars that should be much faster than ours."

Wolfson began competing on GT Radial tires in 2012, achieving four podium finishes in six events in Thunder Drift Pro-Am action. He moved up to the HIN/WDRIFT competition this year with great results. The future indeed looks bright for this up and coming driver who hails from San Diego, CA.

The event at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana was the first time that Hot Import Nights (HIN) and the WDRIFT Tandem Drift Competition shared a racing weekend with the INDYCAR Series. Based on the success of the event, it will hopefully not be the last.
