Mike Perkin Showcases Professional Accomplishments through Worldwide Branding

    MIDRAND, SOUTH AFRICA, October 29, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mike Perkin, Chairman and Chief Explosive Engineer of Wreckers Dismantling (Pty) Ltd South Africa, Wreckers Group plc, has been recognized by Worldwide Branding for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in demolitions management.

Mr. Perkin has 47 years of professional experience, with 22 years as the chairman and chief explosive engineer of Wreckers Dismantling (Pty) Ltd South Africa, Wreckers Group plc. Over the years, he has become an expert in the fields of demolition, dismantling, and explosion work. In the course of his duties, he is responsible for ensuring the company runs smoothly, in addition to managing all types of demolition and training others in the organization for the day that they will eventually take his place. As one of the top five professionals in world in the demolition field, Mr. Perkin is now looking to retire.

Mr. Perkin's publications include "Demolition of Concrete Structures by the Use of Explosives," "Technical Paper No. 3," "Demolition of Concrete Structures by the Use of Controlled Explosives" (Institute of Explosives Engineers, U.K.), and "Demolition of High Rise Flats by Controlled Explosives Implosion of Oak and Eldon Gardens." He attributes his success to his ability to work long hours, flexibility and good team behind him, which he has trained. Mr. Perkins originally wanted to be a veterinarian but because the degree time was a year longer than an MD decided to apply for a position in the demolition industry and progressed from there.

Mr. Perkin received a diploma in surface blasting from DuPont. In addition to his diploma, he has received a certification acknowledging his completion of the ICI Nobel Explosive Understanding of Explosives Course, which he took in Ardeer, Scotland. Mr. Perkin is a member of the Institute of Explosives Engineers, as well as the International Society of Explosives Engineers. To give back to his community, he contributes to Nomads Golf, various children's charitable organizations, and the Hayani Support Project for the Destitute, Thandanani. When he is not at work, he enjoys golf, fishing and watching rugby as an ex player, spending time in the national park, and with his two grandchildren. In years to come, Mr. Perkin plans to transfer his knowledge to his son and other engineers he is training, and become consultant after retirement.
