Assembly of Geeks Presents a Geeky Podcast Experience

When you get there, you join in on a discussion about the issues, passions and controversies of the geek world. The moment you start to listen, your ears and imagination are immediately greeted with a superhero-worthy theme and a classic cartoon-like announcer who tells you what's happening at the Fantastic Fortress as you arrive for the day's assembly. You may find yourself walking down Joss Whedon Hall, visiting The Felicia Day Spa or perhaps watching The Sheldon Cooper Express pull into the train station.

When it comes to the talk, AoG is a lot like other geek podcasts. They discuss movies, TV shows, comics, games and other geek-worthy topics. Content producer Scott Murray (known as Merchman), FANgirl blogger Tricia Barr (known as Fangirl) and podcaster Jeff McGee (known as Admiral 80s) provide an engaging dialogue that you would expect from a podcast. That is until you hear the voice of G.A.N.N.I.N. (the Geek & Nerd News & Intel Network) chime in. He's perhaps best described as Jarvis meets Ben Stein's character in Ferris Beuller's Day Off.

Most episodes culminate with an assembly vote that includes listener participation via the Assembly of Geeks website.

Murray is not only one of the host of the show, but the writer, producer and the creator of the show. "There are a lot of good geek podcasts out there and I wanted to figure out a way to do something a little different," he explained. " "I'm a very conceptually creative person who loves geek culture. So I just merged those two passions together. I'm very fortunate to have Jeff, Tricia and GANNIN there to help make it all possible."

Murray sees the show not only as an "experience", but also a celebration of geek culture. Other geek podcasters, writers, content producers and bloggers have made appearances on the show. Kenobi author John Jackson Miller is a guest on the very first episode.

Assembly of Geeks posts a new episode every Tuesday and can be heard on iTunes, Stitcher Radio and other podcast hubs.

Scott Murray is a writer and content producer in Dallas, Texas. His professional background includes radio production, voiceover, on-air talent, video, TV, advertising and screenwriting. He conducted several celebrity interviews as the host of the Beyond the Screens podcast from 2011-2013.
