MD Anderson Trained Hematologist Oncologist Dr. Birenbaum Opens Offices in Dallas, Carrollton, and McKinney Texas

    DALLAS, TX, November 05, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- For over 35 years Texas Hematology Oncology Centers (THOC) have been helping patients from across the entire state of Texas fight cancer. Dr. Birenbaum is a fellowship trained Hematologist Oncologist at Texas Hematology Oncology Centers. He completed his fellowships in Hematology and Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He also served one year as associate faculty at MD Anderson Tumor Institute, the world's top cancer center.

Each year thousands of North Texas residents travel hundreds of miles away to M.D. Anderson and other cancer treatment facilities to receive care, when they have an M.D. Anderson trained physician right here in North Texas at the Texas Hematology Oncology Centers. Dr. Birenbaum implemented a patient centered approach to cancer care at Texas Hematology Oncology Centers with the infusion nurses, clinical nurses, and himself being available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for our patients. All patients receive our clinical staff and Dr. Birenbaum's personal cell phone numbers and are encouraged to call with questions or concerns.

After leaving MD Anderson, this proactive approach in the treatment of cancer led Dr. Birenbaum to do extensive research and discovered that 20-22% of oncology patients are inappropriately placed in hospice services when they have not been given all the protocols available, all the clinical trials, all the phase II and phase III drugs that could put them in remission.

Experts say cancer care is often too expensive, and the most privileged are getting far better care than people with lower income, minorities, people who live away from big cities, the elderly, and those who can't afford to travel to the top cancer centers in the United States. Dr. Birenbaum realizes this phenomenon occurs in cancer care and brings his MD Anderson training to the Dallas, Carrollton, and McKinney areas.
