"USE PROTECTION: An Employee's Guide to Advancement in the Workplace"
PROVIDENCE, RI, November 11, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Johanna Harris, Esq., Chief Executive Officer of Hire Fire and Retire LLC, has been recognized for her unique combination of government, private industry and nonprofit experience. During the course of her career as a labor lawyer, she has had hundreds of clients with complex, multifaceted legal questions and employee relations problems.
Ms. Harris makes herself available for public speaking engagements and seminars. Having given dozens of training courses and presentations, she makes presentations that are concrete and useful. "I advise employees and employers on how to deal with their real problems, rather than review the latest pending court cases," notes Ms. Harris. "Solving their problems requires a mix of judgment, strategy and legal analysis. That's my forte."
"USE PROTECTION: An Employee's Guide to Advancement in the Workplace" reflects Ms. Harris' effective mix of astute legal judgment, strategic thinking and common sense. "The purpose of 'USE PROTECTION,'" she writes in the introduction, "is to make sure you understand enough about workplace practices and employment law so that you don't get derailed from the track you should be on." The book is available through Amazon both in paperback and as a Kindle eBook. The links are at http://www.hirefireandretire.com and http://www.amazon.com/author/johannaharris.
Having amassed a highly successful track record advising managers and human resources professionals, Ms. Harris has written a highly accessible how-to manual for employees "from the perspective of someone who has been on the other side."
"To protect yourself," notes the book's back cover, "you need to understand the rules of the game. Don't rely on the HR Department to protect you. Be your own advocate. Learn the key points about job interviews, offer letters, background investigations, mentoring, performance evaluations, overtime pay, medical leave, disabilities, investigations of misconduct, sexual harassment, workplace violence, termination for poor performance or violating company rules, reductions in force, and non-compete and non-solicitation agreements." Each of these important topics is addressed in fifteen chapters complete with concrete examples.
Ms. Harris received a JD from Villanova University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania. She was recently inducted into Worldwide Branding and also maintains affiliation with the Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce. She started her career as a trial lawyer in the Solicitor's Office of the U.S. Department of Labor. She has served in executive leadership positions within seven nonprofit organizations in the arts, historic preservation and education. In years to come, Ms. Harris plans to grow her counseling business, publish additional books in her USE PROTECTION series, and continue to hold workshops and accept speaking engagements.
