"The extra social media outreach and the strong presence of the Visit National City website has spurred an increase in sales at the Sweetwater Inn," said Ken Muraoka, Sweetwater Inn manager.
NATIONAL CITY, CA, November 12, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- This past summer exceeded expectations for the National City Tourism Marketing District, which is reporting an increase in hotel revenue in June through September, over the same time period in 2012.
"We were expecting a possible downturn in business due to less media exposure for San Diego in national and international markets," said Jacqueline Reynoso, president and CEO of the National City Chamber of Commerce, which manages the Visit National City campaign. "So we were pleasantly surprised to learn that hotel revenue was up this summer."
According to data collected by Smith Travel Research, travel in the summer season was higher than that of the previous year, with hotel revenue up by 6.1 percent. Some hotels in National City are reporting an even higher increase in business during July. The Sweetwater Inn reported an increase of nearly 7 percent in July 2013 as compared to July 2012.
"The extra social media outreach and the strong presence of the Visit National City website has spurred an increase in sales at the Sweetwater Inn," said Ken Muraoka, Sweetwater Inn general manager. "We are looking forward to another summer and to furthering the success of the Visit National City campaign."
The Paradise Motel reported a significant increase of 27.8 percent in July 2013 compared to July 2012.
"We invested $250,000 into renovating the hotel from the inside out; every room has been remodeled," said Mahesh Zaveri, owner of the motel. "The remodeling efforts combined with the improved economy attributed to our increase in business."
