OMAHA, NE, November 15, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Roger Roubal has earned two additional distinctive certifications in the field of dental sleep medicine. In June 2013, he received a certification from the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, one of only 180 doctors granted this honor since the organization's founding. In October 2013, he became a Diplomate of Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Roubal's facilities were also granted accreditation by the Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, one of only 30 institutions nationwide to receive this distinction.
Dr. Roubal talks about his certifications, "More and more dentists are offering sleep apnea treatment, but not all dentists are equally qualified. Patients are encouraged to look closely at the education and experience of a dentist before seeking treatment."
The American Board of Craniofacial Pain began recognizing Diplomates in Craniofacial Dental Sleep due to the connection between sleep apnea and TMJ. To become a Diplomate, Dr. Roubal performed sleep observations, took a written exam, and demonstrated successful treatment outcomes with his patients. The criteria are similar for the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine is the only credential recognized by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Roubal has logged more than 650 hours of continuing education in sleep studies, and continues to stay on top of new developments in the field.
In order to qualify for facility accreditation, a dentist's office must meet strict standards for the training of the dentist and clinical support staff, use of space, use of quality sleep appliances, safety procedures, and patient care.
These recent credentials join previous certifications by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and the Academy of Clinical Sleep Disorder Dentistry for Dr. Roubal.
