Mr. David A. Patsavas has served as president of Independent Rehabilitation Services, Inc. for the past 23 years
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, November 14, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David Patsavas, MA, CRC, President of Independent Rehabilitation Services, Inc., has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in vocational rehabilitation.
With more than 34 years of providing vocational counseling services directly to individuals with cognitive and/or physical impairments, Mr. David A. Patsavas has served as president of Independent Rehabilitation Services, Inc. for the past 23 years Through Independent Rehabilitation Services, Inc., he acts as an independent consultant providing vocational rehabilitation services to industrially injured, physically disabled, unemployed, chemically dependent and mentally disabled individuals. Mr. Patsavas also offers additional services including job analysis, ADA consultation, individual and group counseling, accessibility surveys of buildings and medical and vocational case management.
Mr. Patsavas provides vocational rehabilitation services to clients, including job search skills training, job search assistance, educational/vocational testing, resume writing, and job placement activities. Throughout his work week, he meets with clients to conduct vocational intakes and assessments, and complete vocational testing. He makes recommendations after evaluating their overall transferable skills and educational backgrounds. He obtained referrals from insurance companies, as well as both Plaintiff and Defense Attorneys. He attributes his professional success to providing clients with options regarding the future which could include education, on-the-job training and/or direct job placement. Initially, Mr. Patsavas became involved in his profession after graduating with his undergraduate degree in psychology and education from Illinois State University. Mr. Patsavas has had the opportunity to work with the State of Illinois Department of Mental Health; he was employed for seven years providing vocational and educational services to children and adolescents with mental illnesses.
From 1977 to 1983, Mr. Patsavas worked for Illinois Department of Mental Health, including work at the Henry Horner Children Center as Director of Vocational Rehabilitation. Prior to that, he served as a Rehabilitation Counselor II with Elizabeth Ludeman Developmental Center, advancing there to Psychologist I. In 1982, he became a certified rehabilitation counselor. He is also a former president of the Illinois Rehabilitation Association, has been a member of the National Rehabilitation Associates since 1981, and was invited to the ADA signing at the White House in 1990. During the next five years, Mr. Patsavas intends to maintain and grow his business, as well as devote more time to his interests which include outdoor activities such as hiking, biking and running. He also plans on spending more time with his family and friends.
After receiving a Bachelor of Science in psychology and education from Illinois State University, Mr. Patsavas earned a Master of Arts in Guidance, Counseling and Vocational Sequences from Northeastern Illinois University. He is currently the Membership Chairperson and Board Member with the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals-Illinois Chapter.
