NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA, December 5, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kelvin Chan (Alias: Kelvin Kam Chuen Chan), Ph.D., D.Sc., Joint Chair Professor in Traditional Chinese medicine of the University of Sydney, and the University of Western Sydney, has been recognized by Worldwide Branding for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in higher education.
Dr. Chan has 37 years of experience in the academia, with four years in his current role His expertise is in clinical pharmacology; medical pharmacology; traditional Chinese medicine; and research methods, which are evidence-based using biomedical research and quality of life instrumentation. He is dividing his time between the University of Sydney and the University of Western Sydney in working with Ph.D. students and being a guest lecturer for complimentary and Chinese medicine and herbal medicine for the biomedical science, Chinese medicine, nursing and pharmacy students.
In five years, Dr. Chan would like to successfully link traditional Chinese medicine with mainstream health care, and implement its use into the integrative practice in community care. He would also like to implement it academically and within the community.
He attributes his success to working hard and understanding how to work with the top scholars and professionals in his field. He became involved in his profession because his educational background is in industrial pharmacy and pharmacology, with a specialization in clinical pharmacology. He also has an interest in improving clinical studies of Chinese medicine. This work was a natural progression for him.
Dr. Chan received a Ph.D. in clinical pharmacology from the medical faculty and a D.Sc. in pharmacology from the faculty of science, both of the University of Birmingham in the UK.
He is currently a Fellow of The American College of Clinical Pharmacology; the Society of Biology in the UK; the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, UK; and the Royal Society of Medicine, UK; and a Life Member of the New York Academy of Sciences and a Winston Churchill Fellow, UK. He is board member of the GPTCM Research Association. His hobbies include swimming, cooking, and watching films.
