Cathy Gao Provides Support Services to Migrants and Refugees

Company has helped more than 4,000 people seeking asylum



Ms. Gao has 11 years of experience in community development work

    SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, December 13, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Case Manager Cathy Gao of Settlement Services International has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in community service.

The Settlement Services International is a nonprofit organization that provides support services that help migrants and refugees achieve their goals as new citizens of Australia. As a case manager, Ms. Gao's areas of expertise include community development, grant writing, capacity building and case management. She is also familiar with program development and intercultural programming.

Ms. Gao has 11 years of experience in community development work, including one year as a case manager for the Settlement Services International. On a day-to-day basis, she undertakes comprehensive and regular needs assessment of clients; develops holistic support plans and coordinates the implementation of these plans. She also writes grants for new projects that benefit the local community, and contributes to projects designed to help refugees transition in their new communities. Prior to joining Settlement Services International, Ms. Gao was a program manager for the Settlement Grant Program for Ashfield Council and a research assistant at Macquarie University.

Dedicated to her work, Ms. Gao attributes her success to helping people who need more understanding of what others endure. She became involved in her current profession because she enjoys helping new immigrants adjust to a new country.

Ms. Gao received a bachelor's degree in family and community services from the University of Western Sydney. She was recently inducted into Worldwide Branding for her accomplishments. In the coming years, Ms. Gao plans to expand in her career.
