Before any type of pharmaceutical or medical product lands in a drugstore or health care facility, it must go through rigorous testing to meet approval standards, and in order to test products correctly, human volunteers are needed. When individuals become involved in medical experiments, there are many risks that need to be taken into account, and that's where people like Virginia "Ginger" French come into play. She is charged with ensuring that each person considering participation in the study knows the potential positive and negative effects of each study. With expertise in clinical pharmacy and human rights protection, Dr. French communicates with physicians and other researchers, guaranteeing that the benefits outweigh the risks of each study. The safety of the individuals always comes first.
Dr. French has been a consultant for 15 years, and formerly worked as a staff pharmacist at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and the Wesley Medical Center. She has also offered her expertise to Charter Hospital of Wichita, serving as its director of pharmacy for five and a half years, and has performed in the capacity of institutional review board director for the Wichita Medical Research and Education Foundation. She attributes her success to her communication skills and love of people. She also credits her success to her enjoyment of working with other health care professionals to improve care for patients.
