William N. Spellacy, MD, Recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Obstetrics and Gynecology

    APOLLO BEACH, FL, December 19, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. William Spellacy, Professor at the University of South Florida, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in obstetrics and gynecology.

Recognizing the correlation between a strong educational foundation and a successful career, Dr. Spellacy achieved a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Science, and an MD, all at the University of Minnesota. He completed a rotating internship at Minneapolis General Hospital and a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Minnesota. Upon completion of his education and training, Dr. Spellacy embarked on a career in education which has spanned the past 50 years. Later in his career, he also earned a certification as a diplomat board subspecialty of maternal-fetal medicine and became recertified with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1991.

For the past 25 years, Dr. Spellacy has served as a professor for the University of South Florida. In his position, he educates students on high risk pregnancy, maternal-fetal medicine, obstetrics, and gynecology. In training the next generation of doctors to solve some of the medical problems which exist today, he is making an enormous impact on medical innovation. Dr. Spellacy draws on the support her received during his educational pursuits and residency training when lending advice to students pursuing gynecology and obstetrics. He feels passionate that pregnant woman should immediately seek medical attention and become educated about preventive care for the various complications associated with fetal development. Dr. Spellacy is unique for his constant desire to stay current in the health care industry, as he religiously pursues continued education and keeps abreast of industry and state requirements. In the coming years, he aims to continue making a difference in the lives of his students while playing a role in impacting positive change in the health care industry.

Recognized for years of invaluable contributions to health care, Dr. Spellacy has been honored for his successes. In 1997, he was named as one of the "Best Doctors for Women" by Good Housekeeping magazine. The following year, he was chosen as one of the Best Doctors in America by Woodward/White Incorporated Listing. Dr. Spellacy also garnered awards for Oustanding Resident Teaching and Excellence in Teaching by the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstretrics.

Based on merit and outstanding achievement in his field, Dr. Spellacy was inducted into Worldwide Who's Who as a lifetime member. Since his inclusion, he has been honored as a VIP member, featured in the Pro-Files magazine, named as an Expert Resource, and chosen as a Professional of the Year. In 2013, his career was highlighted for the Professional Calendar and he was selected for the prestigious Humanitarian award.
