PIKEVILLE, KY, December 19, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mary B. Webb, Associate Professor at the University of Pikeville, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in mathematics education.
Passionate about mathematics education, Mary Webb enrolled at Illinois State University, where she completed a Bachelor of Science in education in 1973. Shortly thereafter, at the age of 22 years, she suffered a stroke which rendered her incapable of conducting simple math equations such as multiplication and division. Determination fueled her goal to overcome her illness and, with the support of family and friends, she made a miraculous recovery. In 1984, she completed a Master of Science in education and four years later achieved an Ed.D. in mathematics education at Illinois State University. Today, Dr. Webb serves as an associate professor of University of Pikeville, where she shares 22 years of practiced expertise with her mathematics education students.
In her role as associate professor, Dr. Webb teaches approximately 12 hours per week, maintains office hours, and works diligently to counsel and advise students. Throughout her multidecadal career, she has become proficient in developmental mathematics. Dr. Webb has been widely recognized for her professional accomplishments, ability to overcome adversity, and strength in teaching students to master difficult and challenging concepts. She is a skilled public speaker who motivates others to succeed in spite of obstacles and, always encourages people to follow their dreams. In the coming years, she aspires to continue improving developmental programs for mathematics at the University of Pikeville.
Based on merit and longevity in her field, Dr. Webb was inducted into Worldwide Who's Who as a lifetime member. Since her inclusion, she has been chosen as a Professional of the Year, highlighted in the Pro-Files magazine, and featured on the Elite American website. Named as an Expert Resource in mathematics education, Dr. Webb was also interviewed for the Elite Radio Network. In 2013, she was selected at a Top Female Executive and honored with a listing in the Worldwide Who's Who Professional Calendar.
Dr. Webb is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Kentucky Association for Developmental Education. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering for her local church. As hobbies, Dr. Webb spends time sewing and cross-stitching.
