SCOTTSDALE, AZ, December 23, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Steven Eric Finkelstein, National Director of 21st Century Oncology, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in radiation therapy and cancer research.
Dr. Finkelstein became motivated to pursue a career in medicine after his grandmother became ill when he was 13 years old. He received an MD from the University of Michigan, where he graduated cum laude.
Further, he completed a fellowship in surgical oncology and immunotherapy from the National Cancer Institute, and an internship in general surgery from the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
Currently, Dr. Finkelstein serves as the national director of translational research for 21st Century Oncology, a provider of high-quality radiation therapy and integrated cancer treatments. He is tasked with seeing and treating patients five days a week. In recognition of his hard work and determination, Dr. Finkelstein has been presented with a Roentgen Research Award, a First Place-Clinical Award, and an 18th Annual Presidential Award by the International Society for Biological Therapy of Cancer (iSBTc).
Beyond his daily responsibilities with 21st Century Oncology, Dr. Finkelstein is as an adjunct associate professor with the Translational Genomics Research Institute and a national principal investigator of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group. He is also a director of the Animal Radiation Imaging Immunotherapy Experimental Laboratory and executive director of the Arizona Cancer Research Alliance.
Recently inducted into Worldwide Branding, Dr. Finkelstein attributes his success to working hard and researching advanced cutting-edge radiation therapies. In fact, Dr. Finkelstein has published journal articles and book chapters resulting in more than 2000 reference citations, with topics that include clinical opportunities in combining immunotherapy with radiation therapy, and the confluence of stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) and tumor immunology.
Dr. Finkelstein is married, has three children and calls Scottsdale, Arizona home. In his free time he enjoys participating in activities with his beautiful family.
