Tom's the best producer I've ever worked with! He has a great deal of integrity and I'm proud to call him my friend. And man, what a drummer, he can play anything!"
NASHVILLE, TN, December 21, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- As the leader of the team that delivered James Cotton's latest album Cotton Mouth Man to eager audiences around the planet, Grammy winning Producer Tom Hambridge has another winner on his hands. The thirteen-track album, released by Alligator Records, has just been nominated for a Grammy for Best Blues Album of the Year.
Hambridge's plan was to write and record songs that capture the hard-won lessons Cotton has earned from a lifelong career as a touring musician in both compelling lyrics and soulful melodies. Match that with Cotton's masterful harmonica playing (he's called 'Super Harp' a reason!) and guest star appearances by musical luminaries including Gregg Allman, Joe Bonamassa, Ruthie Foster, Delbert McClinton, Warren Haynes and Keb Mo, it is no surprise The Recording Academy chose to recognize this piece of work.
Upon the album's release in April, Cotton referred to Hambridge during a USA Today interview saying, "I feel better about this than any one I've ever had before," Cotton says. "I've never had these kind of people with me -- never, ever. It makes me feel really, really good. Tom's the best producer I've ever worked with! He has a great deal of integrity and I'm proud to call him my friend. And man, what a drummer, he can play anything!"
In his characteristically "behind the scenes" approach, Hambridge is humbled by the chance to work with such great artists. "I had great time collaborating with James on "Cotton Mouth Man. He is a true living legend. It's very rewarding to have an album you worked extremely hard on be recognized by the Academy, and I couldn't be happier for James"
