Magnus Johannesson Leads the Arctic Council Secretariat

    TROMSØ, NORWAY, January 7, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Magnus Johannesson, director of Arctic Council Secretariat has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in environmental awareness.

As the director of the Arctic Council Secretariat, Mr. Johannesson works to ensure that the organization serves the Arctic states and the permanent participants that are members of the Arctic Council in the best way to facilitate the important work of the Arctic Council. He brings three decades of professional experience to the role, having previously worked as a director for the Icelandic Maritime Directorate, as well as a secretary general for the Ministry for the Environment and Natural Resources Iceland. His areas of expertise include environmental awareness, environmental policy, sustainable development, and international relations. Mr. Johannesson is the first director of the newly established Arctic Council Secretariat located in Tromsø, Norway. Mr. Johannesson attributes his success to his professional approach, dedication to the tasks at hand, his solution-oriented mind, as well as his ability to listen and learn from others. He intends to continue guiding the Secretariat in Tromso so that it develops and remains a successful establishment.

Mr. Johannesson holds a Master of Science in chemical engineering and a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering, both from The University of Manchester. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Branding. Outside of his profession, Mr. Johannesson is a supporter of the Rotary Club of Reykjavik.
