Coast-to-Coast Motorcycle Ride to Benefit Kids Fighting Cancer

Motorcycle riders team up with a leading crowdfunding site to raise money for kids struggling with life-threatening brain tumors.

WEST PALM BEACH, FL, January 14, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Every Spring, members of the Goldwing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) bring together motorcycle riders of all makes and models across the United States to organize local rides to raise awareness and funds for Pediatric Brain Tumor research. The funds go to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF) through Curethekids.com. Today the PBTF is the world's largest non-governmental source of funding for childhood brain tumor research.

Last year alone the drive raised $775,000 for research. This year, Goldwing rider Jim Rich has organized a solo Cross Country for Kids ride with the goal of raising $30,000 in an effort to push the National total over the $800,000 mark. The objective is to raise the $30,000 prior to the Spring 2014 kickoff of both the local rides and his own cross country ride.

The first leg of the Cross Country Ride for Kids will depart from Jupiter, FL on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at approximately 8am and, using two-lane highways as much as possible, will end up in Los Angeles, CA ten days after departure. Jim will be riding from the Atlantic to the Pacific and back to contribute to finding a cure for this terrible childhood disease.

In 1984, the first Ride for Kids event was held in Atlanta to raise money for research. Over time the event grew in popularity as the event expanded to other cities. The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation was established in 1991 to fund research and offer support to families affected by this disease.
