Atlanta Homeless Shelter Atlanta Mission's 2013 Year in Review

Relive a year's journey of one of the longest-serving non-profit organizations in Atlanta. See how far they've come and what a difference a year makes.

ATLANTA, GA, January 14, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- This year marks 75 years since Atlanta Mission took on the charge of ending homelessness in Georgia.

Their mission began on Crew Street with a single soup kitchen. It was intended to feed the homeless men who lost their fortunes and livelihoods to the Great Depression.

Now, at the Shepherd's Inn, they can provide shelter for up to 450 men and serve one thousand meals every day. They have changed the lives of countless more homeless men, women and children through their counseling and training programs.

Atlanta Mission also runs a women's shelter in Atlanta, My Sister's House, as well as several thrift stores throughout metro Atlanta and the surrounding areas. They provide emergency shelter, job training, transitional housing and other vital life resources for the homeless community of Atlanta.

"Making a difference in people's lives and helping to change the world one better person at a time - that's what we strive to do each and every day here at Atlanta Mission," says Josh Deyton, Director of External Marketing of Atlanta Mission. "We believe in the resilience, beauty and strength of the human spirit, and everything we do here - our education and work programs, counseling sessions and even just our social interaction - reflects, guides and supports that belief."

Be an Atlanta volunteer for the homeless and be part of the solution. Atlanta Mission is committed to transforming the lives of the men, women and children grappling with the problem of homelessness each day on the streets of Georgia. Your time and support brings them that much closer to real and lasting solutions.
