ATLANTA, GA, January 16, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Abdoulaye Dione, Teacher and Trainer for Fastef, has been selected as an Executive Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Abdoulaye Dione's commitment to excellence in Education.
Abdoulaye Dione, who holds a BA in British Literature and an MA in British Civilization from University Cheikh Anta Diop, also known as the University of Dakar, in Dakar, Senegal, Abdoulaye began working as a teacher of general English at a middle school. He taught at several high schools throughout his country before eventually becoming a teacher-trainer in 1983 at the Faculte des Sciences et Technologies de I'Education et de la Formation (FASTEF), a branch of the University of Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar (UCAD), where he still works today.
"As early as the beginning of my undergraduate studies I decided that I wanted to be an educator," Abdoulaye said. "The desire was there, so I just had to strive to grant myself with the required academic background, the psycho-pedagogical supporting know-how, and professional experience obtainable with constant extended teaching practice."
After becoming a teacher trainer with FASTEF, Mr. Dione began teaching English as a Foreign Language methodology, English for Specific Purposes, Phonetics of English, and Special Education. He also began overseeing teacher-trainees' preparation, where he helped teacher trainees prepare for full responsibility of their classes with a specific process that included guiding them through lesson planning procedures, supervising their 15-minute micro teaching lessons, and observing their full responsibility practicum and providing them with ad hoc feedback. He also supervised teacher-trainees' portfolios, which consisted of research work that summed all the class and extra mural activities they carried as components of the training syllabus.
Now the assistant director and financial officer of the Senegal Government Tourist Office in America, located in Atlanta, Georgia, Abdoulaye continues to expand the education mission in which he's been involved in since 1971. He assists the company director in office management by answering mail and phone calls, organizes talks and lectures about the country's tourism, conducts tours to Senegal to familiarize tour operators with the assets of the country's tourism, attends international trade fairs and conferences, and deals with all money matters.
Mr. Dione earned his PhD in Applied Linguistics at the Universite Cheikh Anta Dip in 1993. He is credited with having supervised over 200 research projects submitted by trainees over the course of 20 years and has also published three major articles and various teaching materials at different department levels. He is an active member with Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, English as a Second Language International, English as a Second Language Teacher Professionals, Association of Teachers of English in Senegal, English Language Services Professionals, English Language Teachers and Trainers of English as a Second Language, Modern Languages Association, Teaching English as a Foreign Language Institute Group, Bilingual Professionals of French and English, Teaching Professor Group, and Business English Instructors.
