Looking back, Mr. Kong attributes his success to a proven track record of new product development
MARLESTON, SOUTH AUSTRALIA, January 20, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kenny Kong Sing Wang, Product Development Manager of SCF Group, was recently named a VIP member of Worldwide Branding. Mr. Kong has 12 years of professional experience, with seven years of experience as a product development manager of SCF Group. With seven years of experience dealing with China, Mr. Kong also has in-depth knowledge of the company's products, including storage containers and combo units and the development of spatial special equipments. In addition to his fluency in basic computer programs such as Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, he is well-versed in more advanced applications, including AUTOCAD and Solidworks. He has strong price negotiation skills with experience in China, and he is regarded as an expert in time and resources management, client and supplier relationship retention, team building, and analysis.
On a daily basis, Mr. Kong handles project management for projects totaling US $33 million for new build containers at various factories located in China. He also negotiates prices with Chinese factories to get the best price build and checks all drawing specifications in order to approve them for prototype and production build. He checks and witnesses the prototype container's testing as per ISO standard and Australian standard and leads the client from Australia to the Chinese factory to sign off on the prototype. Mr. Kong also resolves technical problems encountered during production and determines the best solution.
Mr. Kong creates innovative design on modular building from containers design, and he creates internal work procedures for the quotation process and project filling system in order to effectively record and track the product status. Furthermore, he supervises subcontractors locally in Australia for all custom builds and modifications on portable building containers for air conditioning, electrical, carpeting and plumbing.
Prior to his present position, Mr. Kong served as project engineer for more than a year for Cooper Standard Automotive, a manufacturer and marketer of systems and components to the North American and international automotive industry. There, he handled a $2 million transfer of manufacturing facilities to China and trained the Chinese engineers in Australia before he moved to China for six months to manage the setup of production line. Mr. Kong is a multilingual professional, especially in the Mandarin and Malay languages beside English. He also worked as commercial coordinator for the same company, handling new requests for quotes from customers and doing purchasing, sales reports and financial reports.
Before beginning his position with Cooper Standard Automotive, Mr. Kong was an engineer for OzRoll Industries, a manufacturer, designer and provider of an extensive range of products for the building industry, including roofing and shutters. As an engineer for a year, he worked extensively with the product development team, supervised and trained operators, sourced material and managed the plant to maintain the OH&S policy and accreditation to ISO9000. He also spent a year at both Avery Dennison Materials Pty Ltd and Schefenacker Vision Systems Australia Pty Ltd as a project engineer. These cumulative experiences have honed his expertise in the areas of innovation and product development.
Looking back, Mr. Kong attributes his success to a proven track record of new product development and innovation, coupled with the ability to motivate a team for continuous improvement and cost savings measures. Additionally, he has the ability to work under different circumstances and under pressure with minimal support. He became involved in his profession after earning a degree in his field and launching a diverse career in engineering, spanning across companies that manufactured for the building, automobile, and shipping containers industries. The highlight of his career was leading the way for the SCF Group when they won the Australian Business Award for Innovation in 2008, due to his contributions in innovative design on modular building for containers design.
Mr. Kong received a Bachelor of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from the University of South Australia, Australia, where he graduated with honors. In addition to his degree, he is a certified shipping container inspector through the Institute of International Container Lessor, and he has been trained in project management at Chiefly College in 2006. He is also trained in failure mode effects analysis (FMEA) through Quality Associates International. Mr. Kong is a member of the Australian Logistic Council, the Container Owner Association, and the Institute of Engineers Australia. In recognition of his talent and dedication, he received a 100-Percent Attendance Award and Crashing Through Award through a Dale Carnegie Course in 2009.
