Marketing on 6th, NYC, INC Calls For Further Government Support For Small Businesses In The U.S.

More than a quarter of small business owners in the U.S. feel rather pessimistic about the future. Marketing on 6th, NYC, INC therefore call the government for help to increase their support for small businesses.

NEW YORK, NY, January 22, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- New research shows that small business owners are slightly more negative than positive for looking at 2014. In fact, 28% feel less optimistic about their business' future than last year, while only 23% are more optimistic. The remaining business owners questioned say their optimism is about the same as in 2013 (gallup.com). Colm Horgan, entrepreneur and managing director of Marketing on 6th, NYC, INC, calls for more help from the U.S. government. "Small businesses are crucial for our economy. The government needs to increase their support and give entrepreneurs confidence to grow their business, which will help boost the economic recovery in return," explains Colm Horgan.

The results are based on the fourth-quarter update of the Wells Fargo/Gallup Small Business Index for which 605 small-business owners in all U.S. States and the District of Columbia were questioned (gallup.com).

The reasons for the lack of optimism have been determined to be concerns about factors within and without the control of entrepreneurs. The research reveals that small business owners are worried about the economy, the government and the implications of the rollout of the new healthcare law. In addition to that, concerns include the ability to remain competitive and attract new customers and to find and retain good employees (gallup.com). Colm Horgan says: "Many of the concerns are created by the fear of a stagnating or only slowly recovering economy, a factor that small business owners cannot directly influence, it is out of their control."

The results of the survey confirm that external challenges such as the potential effect of the healthcare policy and Obamacare, the government in general and government regulations as well as taxes are the main concerns of business owners at this point (gallup.com). "We want to see the government taking more responsibility and provide business advice, more opportunities to provide credit and easier regulations for small businesses in order to win the confidence of U.S. entrepreneurs back and enhance economic growth," explains Colm Horgan of Marketing on 6th, NYC, INC.
