Steven C. Nunn is an Expert in Tarantula Species and Arachnology

    SARINA, QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA, January 22, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Steven C. Nunn, Systematist of South East Asian tarantulas, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in arachnology.

Mr. Nunn has 20 years of experience in arachnology, with 13 years as a systematist of South East Asian tarantulas from the spider subfamily Selenocosmiinae. As an expert in arachnology, he is responsible for conducting extensive research in that field, as well as working with various specialists and shipping captive-bred Australian tarantulas. Mr. Nunn is currently writing a book that he plans to publish in the near future, and he contributes to cancer research by milking tarantulas for their venom, which is useful to researchers.

Looking back, Mr. Nunn attributes his success to commitment, interest and great mentors. He became involved in his profession because he is interested in arachnology and its tarantula subfamily Selenocosmiinae, the group to which all Australian tarantulas belong. He enjoys supporting and learning about tarantula species, and working with entertainment professionals who use the tarantulas for films and documentaries. The highlight of his career was being published in peer reviewed taxonomic world class journals; in addition, he is the only person worldwide to successfully export Australian tarantulas. He achieved permits and the licensing to legalize the export of captive bred Australian tarantulas to the international pet trade.

Mr. Nunn was recently inducted into Worldwide Branding and also maintains affiliation with the Australian Tarantula Association, the British Tarantula Society, the Australasian Arachnological Society, the Willi Hennig Society, the American Tarantula Society, and The DeArge. In recognition of his dedication to his profession, Mr. Nunn received a BTS Breeders Award in 2006. In years to come, Mr. Nunn plans to continue conducting research and publishing books.
