With only 67% of providers in the study attesting for meaningful use, it is clear that there is a lot of room for growth and support from all oncology vendors.
OREM, UT, January 23, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The best-of-breed oncology vendors continue to hold their own against enterprise vendors as the main competitors in the market. This according to the newly released KLAS report, Oncology 2013: Eyes Wide Open.
In a complex world of government regulations and requirements, providers are looking to their oncology vendors for improved interfacing capabilities and overall functionality. While the enterprise vendors, mainly Cerner and Epic, are making an impact in medical oncology, providers report that best-of-breed vendors Elekta and Varian continue to deliver the necessary and desired functionality as well as the full oncology IT suite. Eyes have also been on McKesson since their purchase of US Oncology and the iKnowMed solution. KLAS spoke to 176 providers to better understand the strengths and weaknesses of both best-of-breed and enterprise vendors.
"The best-of-breed vendors have had to tighten up their interfacing capabilities to prove that they can compete with the enterprise vendors," said Monique Rasband, report author. "However, with only 67% of providers in the study attesting for meaningful use, it is clear that there is a lot of room for growth and support from all oncology vendors."
The vendors in this study include BMSi, Cerner, Elekta, Epic, IntrinsiQ, McKesson, and Varian.
