Harley-Davidson of Tampa Discusses the 2014 Harley FLHR Road King

The Road King now has the High-Output Twin Cam 103 engine, which was engineered specifically for more passing power on the highway.(1) It has 5 percent more power on tap than the Twin Cam 103, which improves acceleration between 60 and 80 mph, delivering the oomph required for the fast lane or to take on a mountain even with two riders and a load of touring gear.(1)

The 2014 Road King also offers Reflex Linked Brakes with ABS, which electronically links front and rear brakes above 20-25 mph and applies stopping force appropriately. The optional system allows the front and rear brakes to operate independently at low speeds, though as you drop your speed below that 20 mph threshold, the brakes will stay linked to help you maintain control.(1)

When you're in it for the long haul, comfort becomes very important, especially for the passenger. The hard saddlebag guards have been moved down and back to give the rear passenger more leg room without their calves touching the saddlebags.(2) The saddlebags (as well as the fuel door) have a One-Touch design that makes opening them as easy as pulling or pressing with a finger.
