Ferman Mazda of Brandon's Mazda Inventory Receives Multiple Top Safety Pick Distinctions from Insurance Institute for Highway Safety

    TAMPA, FL, January 28, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety toughened its requirements this year and three Mazda models found at Ferman Mazda of Brandon still passed with flying colors, earning top marks from the IIHS. The 2014 Mazda3, Mazda6 and CX-5 each earned a Top Safety Pick+ award -- three of only 22 vehicles to earn the honor. Mazda as a company earned the second-highest number of safety honors.(1)

Five crash impact tests are required for the IIHS safety rating, and each car is rated Good, Acceptable, Marginal or Poor in each test. There are also three crash prevention tests, with Superior, Advanced and Basic ratings (or NA, if the technology is not available in the tested vehicle). The Mazda3 and CX-5 were rated as Good -- which ranks among the highest ratings -- in all crash impact tests and Advanced in the prevention tests. The Mazda5 received a Good rating in four out of five crash tests and one Acceptable (in the small overlap test), plus an Advanced rating for front crash prevention. These scores were enough for each model to receive Top Safety Pick+ honors from the IIHS.(1)

All three vehicles at our dealership in Tampa use Mazda's i-ACTIVSENSE pre-crash detection and active safety system. It includes relatively simple technology, such as high beam control that automatically switches from high to low beams, as well as advanced technologies like radar cruise control, smart city brake support and forward obstruction warning.(1)
