Mazda Named Most Fuel-Efficient Auto Manufacturer in U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Report, Ferman Mazda of Brandon Reports
Mazda had the highest average fuel economy and the lowest average CO2 emissions across its fleet in 2012.
TAMPA, FL, January 29, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Environmental Protection Agency's latest report on light-duty vehicle fuel economy trends found that, for model year 2012, Mazda was the most fuel-efficient automobile manufacturer in the United States. Its fleet-wide adjusted fuel economy was highest at 27.1 mpg, while its carbon dioxide emissions were lowest, at 328.(1) Ferman Mazda of Brandon has many of these fuel-efficient Mazda's available at its Tampa Mazda dealership.
The remarkable thing about this achievement is that Mazda earned these averages without having a hybrid or electric vehicle in its fleet. Instead, it uses its SKYACTIV technology to improve the efficiency of the internal combustion engine found in 90 percent of vehicles on the road today.(1)
SKYACTIV technology can be found in the 2014 Mazda3, Mazda6 and CX-5 at Ferman Mazda dealerships in Tampa. The system debuted in the 2012 Mazda3, which achieves 41 mpg when the car is equipped with i-ELOOP energy regeneration system. The CX-5, for its part, holds the title of highest fuel economy of any SUV sold in America, including hybrids, with a rating of 35 mpg.(1)
The SKYACTIV philosophy touches every part of a Mazda, from the engine and transmission to the aerodynamics and chassis. The high-compression engine is lighter, more efficient and has more torque than previous Mazda engines. Also, the SKYACTIV-Drive 6-speed automatic transmission delivers 7 percent better fuel economy than before. The chassis and body are both lighter, which reduces demand on the engine, while being more rigid for a sportier feel on the road.(2)
