LONDON, ENGLAND, February 17, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The long awaited opening date of the Shangri-La Hotel at the Shard, London, has finally been revealed as Tuesday 6th May 2014, the official launch date of London's highest hotel within the city's tallest skyscraper, the Renzo Piano-designed Shard in London Bridge.
The delayed opening, which comes close to two years after The Shard itself officially opened, is welcome news for travellers who have been waiting to hear when they can experience the GBP450-a-night hotel.
Those lucky enough to be among the first to stay at London's newest hotel will be able to enjoy the comfort of the signature 'Shangri-La Bed', with its patented body-contouring technology, and enjoy state of the art luxuries like LCD televisions, underfloor heating, hi-fi equipment and business services.
Taking up 18 floors of The Shard - from floor 34 to 52 - the Shangri-La's 195 rooms and 170 deluxe guestrooms average more than 42 square metres each, making them among the largest in London. Three specialty suites - including the superior Shangri-La suite on level 39 with its 180-degree views of London, stretching from the Houses of Parliament to Canary Wharf - will open later in September.
For guests who want to unwind at the end of a long day, the luxury spa on the 52nd floor - Europe's first CHI spa - will offer Chinese and Himalayan healing therapies alongside fitness facilities including a gym, whirlpool, steam, sauna and London's highest indoor infinity swimming pool with panoramic views of the London skyline.
Even if you're not staying at the hotel you will be able to benefit from those far-reaching views - anyone can book in for a meal at the Ting restaurant on level 35 or visit Gong on level 52, the highest bar in London: the ideal place for sunset cocktails with stunning views over London's skyline.
For those who don't want to wait until 6th May, The Shard's restaurants Oblix and Hutong, and its bar Aqua Shard, are already open. And visitors can enjoy views from the very top of the 306-metre high building where The View From The Shard, already a popular London attraction, celebrated its first birthday on 1st February 2014.
Bookings at the Shangri-La London will be taken from 17th March, with opening room rates starting at GBP450 per room per night, including VAT.
