GMiS Discusses New Science Policy Strategies at White House

    MONTEREY PARK, CA, February 26, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Great Minds in STEM, a national leader in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM outreach to the underserved and underrepresented communities, will participate in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Minorities in STEM Workshop, on February 26, 2014, from 1:00PM - 5:00PM (EST). The meeting will be held in Washington DC, at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, in Room 430.

The workshop, titled Closing the Gap: Opportunities to Expand Minority Achievement and Participation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), will convene leaders of professional STEM organizations, technical experts and STEM stakeholders to formulate strategies to address both the K-12 achievement gap and postsecondary recruitment and persistence.

For over 26 years, GMiS has honored and recognized this nation's top, technical Hispanic talent, which have served as prominent STEM role models to help our youth envision themselves as future STEM innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders. With its ambitious annual outreach to over 100,000 K-12 students, college students, K-20 educators, and parents across the country, GMiS continues to ensure broadened participation in STEM and that students are enabled with the 21st Century Skills that are demanded of today's technical workforce.
