/24-7PressRelease/ -- INDEPENDENCE, OH, February 28, 2014, Dr. Kathy J. Siesel, Associate Professor of Podiatric Biomechanics and Orthopedics for the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in Podiatric Medicine. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.
Dr. Siesel has 22 years of experience as an associate professor of the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine. Over the years, she has established herself as an expert in clinical biomechanics, podiatric biomechanics, podiatric sports medicine, and podiatric pediatrics. In the course of her duties, she is responsible for teaching lower limb anatomy in the classroom and laboratory settings, as well as teaching clinical lower extremity biomechanics. In addition to her work at Kent State, she works in private practice, primarily at a retirement community and an assisted living facility that specializes in caring for patients with Alzheimer's disease.
Prior to her position with Kent State, Dr. Siesel taught anatomy and physiology at a community college. She is now working to train future podiatric physicians and ensure that the field has a new generation of talented doctors. She teaches in the basic science, podiatric medicine and biomechanics/orthopedics departments, as well as in clinical settings. Dr. Siesel holds positions in a podiatric medical college and a private practice in podiatric medicine. She attributes her success to her hard work, open-mindedness, and desire to learn and help people. She became involved in her profession because she was influenced by her grandmother as a pre-teen, and she began watching people's gaits during high school. The highlight of her career was attaining a U.S. patent for her heel device.
Dr. Siesel received a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from The Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in 1989 and a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Bowling Green State University in 1984. In addition to her degrees, she has earned a board certification from the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics and Primary Podiatric Medicine. She is a member of the Northeast Ohio Academy of Podiatric Medicine, the Ohio Podiatric Medical Association, the American Podiatric Medical Association, and the OCPM Alumni Association.
